Creative Hearts Club collaborates with the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB)
events
Creative Hearts Club is excited to collaborate with the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), the UK’s leading membership organisation for small businesses and the self-employed. The collaboration for our upcoming event at Brew on Friday 27 September is a brilliant chance for creatives of Hull and East Yorkshire to get their voices heard.
Joining us at our September meetup is Paula Gouldthorpe, Development Manager for the FSB, who represents, supports, and advocates on behalf of small businesses across East Yorkshire, the Humber, and South Yorkshire.
With a passionate career supporting entrepreneurs, start-ups, and young business owners, Paula is keen to connect with creatives and learn more about their unique challenges, successes and needs.

“It’s often difficult for creatives to feel seen and heard - typically we work alone, some of us work multiple jobs, some of us freelance, and some of us split our time between different jobs and passions. This makes it quite difficult to get together and speak about our challenges with other like-minded people,” says Courtney Farrow, Hull-based writer and Co-Founder of Creative Hearts Club.
“Paula’s involvement in our September meetup will give creatives a chance to chat in a casual and relaxed way about their work, successes and challenges.”
Creative Hearts Club launched in March 2024 with the goal of creating an inclusive, no-pressure community for freelancers and creatives to connect, collaborate, and make friends. Since then, the club has hosted successful meetups at some of Hull’s most popular spots, including The Brain Jar, DiveHu5 and Brew. Every event has sold out quickly, with attendees loving the club’s relaxed, no-business, no-judgement vibe.
One CHC attendee described their experience:
“The ‘come as you are’ invitation makes all the difference. Whether you’re grabbing a quick coffee or diving into a full day of coworking, there’s no pressure - just support and great conversation.”
With the FSB now in the mix, our September meetup is shaping up to be an unmissable event for anyone in the creative sector looking to expand their network and find valuable support.
Emilie Beatrice, Co-Founder and organic social media content specialist adds: “Partnering with Paula is a fantastic opportunity for our members. Not only do we get to talk to her about what it’s like to be a creative in Hull, but we also get insights from a leading organisation that really understands the ins and outs of running a small business.”
